Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find my trash pickup day?โ–ผ

Enter your street address in the lookup tool above. TrashAlert will show your collection day for trash, organics, and recycling, along with the next scheduled pickup dates adjusted for holidays.

What is the recycling Week A / Week B schedule?โ–ผ

San Diego collects recycling (blue bin) every other week. Half the city is on "Week A" and half on "Week B." Your specific week depends on your address. TrashAlert tells you which week you're on so you know exactly when to put out the blue bin.

What happens when a holiday falls on my pickup day?โ–ผ

On holiday weeks, there is no collection on the holiday itself. Starting from the holiday, all remaining pickups for that week shift forward by one day. If your normal day is Friday, your pickup moves to Saturday. TrashAlert automatically adjusts for this.

What time should I put my bins out?โ–ผ

Place your bins at the curb by 6:00 AM on your collection day with the lid facing the street. Trucks collect between 6:00 AM and 5:30 PM. Bring bins back by 6:00 PM the same day.

How do I report a missed pickup?โ–ผ

Contact Multiple (DSNY, Village/Town services) at 311 within 24 hours of your scheduled pickup.

Can I add my schedule to my phone calendar?โ–ผ

Yes! After looking up your address, click the "Add to Calendar" button to download a .ics file. This works with Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, Outlook, and any calendar app that supports .ics imports.
