Omaha Trash Day Guide: Carts, Recycling Weeks and Holiday Delays
Omaha runs its garbage and recycling program through the City's Wasteline Omaha site. Here is what the official pages say about getting your carts out on the right day.
Find your exact day
Your pickup day depends on your address. Use the official Collection Day and Recycling A/B Finder.
Set-out time
The City reminds residents to place carts and yard waste bags out for collection no later than 6:00 a.m. on their collection day. Wasteline Omaha notes that the City's contractor collects until 7:00 p.m. each day.
Recycling every other week: Group A or Group B
Omaha recycling is collected every other week. Each address is in recycling Group A or Group B, and the Wasteline Omaha home page shows which group is on its recycling week.
Use the official Collection Day and Recycling A/B Finder to see your day and group.
Yard waste and holidays
Year-round, yard waste can go loose in your black-lid garbage cart at no cost. Paper yard waste bags or bundles of brush set outside the cart need purchased yard waste stickers, except during the free separate collection seasons, when paper bags need no sticker (brush bundles still do). The 2026 free seasons are May 4 to June 12 and October 26 to December 4.
The City's collection contractor observes six holidays. There is no collection on the holiday, and collection is one day late for the rest of that week, so Friday collection moves to Saturday. Holidays that fall on a Saturday or Sunday do not affect collection. Check the official holiday schedule for each year's dates.
You can sign up for email notices of holiday and weather delays, or use the Wasteline Omaha app.
About TrashAlert coverage in Omaha
TrashAlert currently has only a small set of preliminary, unverified Omaha zone data. It is not suitable for address-level conclusions, and TrashAlert does not currently have verified address-level pickup coverage for Omaha. Use the official Wasteline Omaha finder to confirm your day and recycling group.
