Dallas Trash Day Guide: Roll Cart and Brush and Bulky Rules

Dallas Sanitation Services collects from single-family homes and duplexes across the city. Here is what its official pages say about getting your carts and bulky items out on time.

Find your exact day

Your pickup day depends on your address. Use the official City of Dallas collection schedule lookup. You can also browse regular pickup days on the TrashAlert collection day map where we have verified data.

Garbage: once a week

Residential garbage is collected once per week. The City says your roll cart must be at the curb in front of your home (or in an approved alley) by 7 a.m. on your collection day, and no earlier than 6 p.m. the evening before.

Bring the cart back in no later than 8 a.m. the day after collection. Carts not set out in time will not be collected until the following week.

Face the cart toward the point of collection, leave three feet on each side and one and a half feet behind it, and keep bags inside the cart, not on top or beside it.

Brush and bulky items: monthly

Residential customers get monthly brush and bulky item curbside collection of up to 10 cubic yards.

Set materials out between Thursday and Sunday before your collection week, just behind the curb in front of your home. Keep them out of the street and sidewalk and at least 5 feet from roll carts, mailboxes, fences, meters, hydrants, poles and parked cars.

Household garbage, construction debris, tires, electronics, paint and chemicals are not accepted in brush and bulky collection.

Your personal calendar

The City offers an address lookup on its Collection Schedules page that builds a personalized calendar for garbage, recycling, and brush and bulky collections, plus a Dallas Sanitation mobile app.

About TrashAlert coverage in Dallas

TrashAlert has Dallas zone data, but not every address may be covered yet. The official City lookup is the final word for your address. The map shows regular pickup days, not holiday changes.

Help and official sources

If your roll cart is not serviced by 8 p.m. on your collection day, the City asks you to report the missed pickup online through its garbage collection page.
